Semantic Visions, a software-based actionable analytics firm based in Prague and London, has released Semantic Visions Search (SV Search) 2.9.1, the most advanced version of our market-leading OSINT search tool.
Version 2.9.1 includes a new Workspaces feature, which builds on the capabilities of the Case Manager and is designed to increase analysts’ productivity.
SV Search is built around thematic facet packages, groupings of related semantic categories that give users a powerful and simple way to search predefined topics across 12 languages. In the Workspaces, users can combine facets from different packages – such as Cybersecurity, Financial Viability, and Disinformation & Conspiracies – to create their own customized search package, enabling greater control over queries and results.
We have also updated the Calibration Panel, where users can adjust the “Precision” and “Yield” of their searches. For every Semantic Category search conducted, results are returned with the highest yield, which delivers more articles (with a relevance ranging from 0 to 100). Through the Calibration Panel, users can filter by Precision (a relevance score ranging from 50 to 100).
Here’s one example of how it works: A high yield Semantic Category search for the cybersecurity firm Avast (cat:AVAST_SOFTWARE) during the last month returns thousands of articles with the company’s name, even if the articles returned are unrelated to cybersecurity – for instance, a reference to the Avast Foundation, which promotes digital freedom and equity.
But if the search goal is to find articles only related to the company Avast and its cybersecurity products, the SV Search user would select “Precision” in the Calibration Panel, reducing the total number of articles but increasing the relevancy of the results to include items directly related to Avast’s software capabilities.
SV Search uses semantic categories to mine the web, interpret meaning, and help identify threats. By collecting and analyzing 90% of the world’s online news content from more than 900,000 publicly available news sources in 12 world languages, SV Search gives users instant and unparalleled visibility of the threat ecosystem, helping to uncover previously hidden insights. SV Search was created in close collaboration with experts from technology and linguistic domains to close the gap between information noise and actionable intelligence online.
