Dukovany NPP Expansion Green-lighted
The biggest investment in modern Czech history, a 17bn USD (the figure varies) expansion project, can go ahead.
The Czech government officially announced the winner on July 17, with the contract expected to be signed by March 2025. Construction could begin within five years, trial operations are scheduled in 2036, while commercial operations are planned to commence in 2038. The plant will have an operating lifetime of 60 years and is planned to be decommissioned in 2096.
The Prague stock market issued a lukewarm reaction to the announcement and analysts offered a neutral evaluation of the decision.
